When little Piglet was found by some Good Samaritans in Sacramento, California, he was just a tiny pup. Someone had recently cut his ears off and left him bleeding in a bin at a high school and he remained there until he was found.
An animal control officer was quickly dispatched to get the pup, who they named Piglet. Because of his ears, Piglet had to be taken to the veterinarian for care.
Eventually, he recovered enough to stay in a kennel at the shelter or find a foster home. Thankfully, he was fortunate enough to score the latter.
Haley, the Public Information Coordinator for the Front Street Animal Shelter, is an avid animal foster, having fostered 100 animals last year. According to an interview with GeoBeats Animals, when she saw little Piglet looking so sad and dejected in his kennel, her heart broke.
She knew she couldn’t leave the sad pup to live in the shelter so she offered to foster him and took him home the next day. Understandably, Piglet was in a lot of pain at first. But slowly, he started to recover and as he did, his attitude perked up. The more he healed, the more he wanted to play and act like a normal dog!
Haley was pleased to report that Piglet was a total love bug. He got along great with the other animals in her home and he loved to snuggle and play. It wasn’t long before someone reached out who was interested in adopting Piglet.
After reviewing her application, the shelter knew Aubree Pelon would be a great fit for the precious little dog. Aubree owns the Little Hearts Rescue and works at a vet, so she’s really familiar with rescue animals and caring for pets.
After the application was approved, Piglet got to go to his forever home. He was renamed Mellow and is now living his best life. Aubrey couldn’t be any happier to have him in her life.
