Dylan, a Saluki dog, was discovered in poor condition by the side of a road in Bridgend, UK, last July.
He was in desperate need, and his rescue was almost miraculous. Those who rescued him didn’t think he’d make it through the first night; he was hungry, curled up, and alone.
The images below may offend some people’s sensibilities…
Thankfully, someone stepped in and saved his life!
The rescuers stated that they had never come across an animal in such a critical and delicate state. They didn’t even feel comfortable touching him because he seemed to snap at the slightest provocation. Each movement jeopardized the life of a poor, helpless child.
The images of Dylan shortly after he was discovered are shocking and horrifying. I’m not sure how a living organism can be ignored for so long before reaching these conditions. He’s a beast!
Butt Bryan, who discovered Dylan abandoned on the side of the road and took him to the Croft Rescue Center, is one of those people.
The dog was losing weight steadily, and it also had scabies, which they had to treat.
Everyone is pleased with how far this brave animal has progressed.
Rachel Hayball, who works at the animal shelter where Dylan was staying, told him about his entire recovery process and assured him that they had never seen a dog in such bad shape.
“You think this happens in places like Thailand, but it happens even in countries where everything is available, even if SO MUCH is missing…”
Someone had starved him to death and then abandoned him somewhere to die. “We simply don’t know what brought him here,” Rachel explained.
Dylan’s realization that he was about to die had to have been devastating. The most horrifying aspect of all of this is that, despite his physical recovery, he must be suffering from mental wounds that will never fully heal. This dog has been physically and emotionally abused.
Dogs are fascinating animals that never cease to astound humans. They are courageous and, above all, honorable, capable of forgiving and loving despite their past pain.
Dylan did not give up; he triumphed over death and is now living a new life with Professor Jamie Birch, who adopted him as soon as he recovered.
Dylan has found a new home!
“It’s amazing how Dylan survived what happened, and given his ordeal, he shouldn’t be as kind and sensitive as he is,” Jamie said.
Dylan was saved, which makes me happy, but I can’t help but believe that many other poor dogs around the world are abused and abandoned to their fate, just as Dylan was.
A pet is not a decorative item; it is a living being that requires love, care, and attention. How does one abandon an animal while peacefully sleeping? I wish all humans possessed the ability of faithfulness, which is the most important characteristic of all dogs.
